Missionary work is all about individual ministering

Sister Mom,

The Great North is great! We had a Canadian-wide broadcast with Elder Holland, Elder Perkins (area seventy I think) and President Eyring. It was really cool! The children were crazy so it was hard to hear but I got a lot out of it. Oh man. I didn't know your knee was that bad! I'm sure that after a bit of time and the surgery you will be back to normal. Ya, that would be super lame if you had stitches at the lake! That is super weird that kaylee is married now. haha I bet there were a ton of XC people haha...Ya, missionary work is all about individual ministering and administering. If you are not doing one, you are not doing the other. For example if you are there just to give a blessing to someone you lack the compassion to thoroughly complete the ministering and administration because the blessing will be lacking the Spirit. That's how I see it. I really like how Christadministered through ordonnances but was first and foremost a minister of the gospel. The scriptures said that he had compassion on them and then administered healing to them according to their faith. Anyways, that's that haha. I don't want to get carried away and write an essay haha. I really don't know what personal progress is other than it sort of like duty to God but harder. Questions (except number 4)!
1. Did you get a package lately?
I'll get it tomorrow. I'm pretty stoked.
2. I realized that I judge your mission time by fast sundays, and you have 13 left! How do you judge time? Transfers? Months? snow storms???
Man, your way of counting is depressing- that's so little...13?? I count by transfers. I don't know how many I have left and I don't want to know. Pretty sure I stay until 2020 and then I'll extend for 20 years haha.
3. so I read online that rimouski is the farthest north that your mission goes, is that right? It was funny they were talking about the cold and they said as long your missionary doesn't serve there, then it isn't that cold. did is seem way colder there?
Yeah, Rimouski is the coldest because of wind. It's really not that bad. Except that one time it was like 100 km/hr winds!! I can say that now because it's over and next winter I probably won't be there haha.
5. We saw Megan at the reception, she leaves this wednesday for Toronto- any advice for a fellow canadian (okay I know that you are quebecois!!!) I told her to learn to love maple syrup, anything else?
Dress warm! No I'm just kidding. She's going to Toronto? I'd say learn to love time management! That's really hard to do.
Well, I hope you have a great week!

April 28

Hi Dad!

Spring is coming! Slowly. The high for this week is about 12*C (52 degrees F). So, not anything crazy but it's not cold! I'm sure everyone is going to love you teaching! I mean I'm sure that you won't go super deep-doctrine but if the Spirit is there and they are open then that's a great lesson to look forward to in my book!
Oh you played pickle ball again? Wow, for how many times you guys play, you must be masters! Oh man, I'm glad Uncle Kyle and Aunt Nicole are alright. 15 times spinning, that's intense!
I really like the idea of having the temple at the center of our lives. Not because it's a nice-looking building but because it is the Lord's house. So, if his house is at the center, so will He be at the center of our lives. I can't believe Chelsea is graduate! C'est hâte ça! (That's exciting in Quebecois). I have to throw in some Quebecois phrases or Corey will just teach you all those African phrases and not any of the good stuff! My week has been really good. We have found some really cool people. It's interesting how Satan always puts pressure on people. I have never really witness Satan's influence physically until on my mission. A lot of people have gone to the Hospital that we start to teach. It's crazy. But other than that, the work is going good! I'm trying not to just go through the routine of things now more than getting use to the routine. I really like Victoriaville. It's a nice little town with great people. We found this man now he is really solid and probably understands the chapters we leave him perfectly. So, the lesson this week, don't knock it 'til you try it (in this case try talking to someone about the Gospel)! Well, have a great week! Love you!

Elder Kimzey
Hey mom!
I'm doing swell! No, I'm still in Victoriaville. Transfers are like the 14th of May. So, we get our calls for that just before Mother's day. (You know what that means right??) I get to call you! But that's just under two weeks away so let's not get carried away haha.
I'm positive your knee will heal and if not, next year your gonna run faster than me!:) I did go to special mutual twice. It was super cool. I really liked it. What the Austin Morris?? That's super weird! He was supposed to go to Ukraine but now won't know until right before?? That's insane! Well, tell him good luck in China;) ...
Your welcome for the pictures. Except I'm not a girl so you can tell me that I'm fat it's alright. Good motivation for morning workouts haha. This week has been good. We have found several people to teach. We have a ton of investigators but they are getting harder and harder to contact so we will see. One man accepted a baptismal date which is awesome! The only reason he didn't come to church was that he was sick. Bummer. Next week!
Really, now it's trying not to go through the motions. It's easy just to think, "it's just another contact at the door" or "I'm just studying like normal." But I want to be invested so I want to weed wack that out of me! Well, that's pretty much it. Life's pretty great!
I love you tons! Have a GREAT week! :O)

Happy Easter!

Maman!
Ca va bien?  oh wow news from home...weird. Oh well, things change over two years I guess haha. I'm glad that Carli did so well even though she didn't have time to properly warm up. Warm-ups do help a ton! She sounds like she is rockin' it though!
Aw that's too bad with your leg! I'm positive that it will be better if you do all that you can to fix it AND you'll be able to do the half-marathon! Keep the hope up! The years not even half way over yet!
Ask Chelsea why her husband wrote me but she didn't haha. Oh I'm so glad that your using my pergola. You know I was thinking about that the other day and how much that helped me. Ya with working hard and all that jazz, but during that time I listened to SO many conference talks that help me now when I need them. It grew my love for modern prophets and apostles. So, next time you sit under it, grab a nice talk and read it for me!
I didn't teach on Sunday. My companion taught the Gospel Principles class with less-actives and an investigator. I don't speak really at all here other than that one for missionary work. It's definitely not like the first branch I was in.
I think something that is key in the First Vision is the context. Getting to know Joseph Smith Jr. and his situation in life, his character, etc. That really livens the picture of the story. But the key is that Joseph Smith wanted to act when he prayed. It wasn't just a quest for knowledge but he wanted to know which church to join. That is the key to prayer. If you want to know, you got to be willing to act on it!
I took 3 pictures this week! So, sorry it wasn't everything you wanted, but I improved!

Anyways it was really great this week. We had an investigator come to Church and he was super scared to come to Church, because of past experiences with other Churches. But he came and it seemed really good. It was really all thanks to a member too! He offered him help, and rides to buy stuff, and a ride to Church. He really fellowshipped him! Also, we (as in Elder Hurtado) taught these two Cuban bouncers. They were huge. They were super nice and had a lot of real intent. We also taught this younger girl who, at first at the door, wasn't interested, but after talking to her we got an appointment at a Tim Hortons Sunday. It turned out to be a super good lesson! Anyways that was my week! Love you tons!

Conference

Sis. Mom!
Ca va bien! Et toi? It's getting a lot warmer! It's like 3*C right
now! I can't believe this has become warm for me...haha. Oh man dad didn't tell me how bad his eye was he just said that he couldn't go in the light too long! That's crazy! I hope he gets better!
I'm glad carli did so well in the 3200m! Oh man the boys ...I
would give them a good motivational speech but really I was never real good at track. Corey will do better:) That's the beauty of this time of year though, there's always next time! Until state of course. Is Corey running now?
My week was pretty good. I can't think of anything that really stuck of to my mind sorry. But! I will answer
your questions:
1.How do you watch conference?  what was your favorite talk?  I did see conference. They show it at a church or you can watch it on TV. I went to the Church and there wasn't many people there.
My favorite talk was Elder Perry's and Elder Nelson's. They were super good! Also, the one by the 1st councilor in the Young Men's presidency was really good. All about the internet. That was interesting.
2. (questions about a package) Ok, that sounds good. I will be looking for it!
3. who do you always look forward to hearing from?             I really like Elder Perry right now. I have no idea why. I also
LOVE to listen to President Utchdorf. It's probably because my two favorite talks of all time are by them. Raising the Bar and the one about not taking like for granted. Oh, of regrets and resolutions.
Super good stuff!
I will pray for dad! Tell him that he is awesome! Tell him and love him and that I couldn't have asked for a better father... No greater hero has ever been in my life.
 Have a great week.
Elder Kimzey

Hey dad!
Ya, I got to see all the general conference sessions! They were super good. Did you have a favorite? I think mine was either Elder Perry's or Elder Nelson. That's so weird that you can watch priesthood from home. I don't know how I feel about that. I like the feeling of brotherhood that comes
from going to the church for that.
Oh was the man's name Bekele? Because if so he is like legendary long distance runner. Super short? Ethiopian?
Oh that's too bad that you couldn't go to your mission reunion. Who was your mission president?
Oh no sister crane died? Oh, she was so nice. I remember we gave the sacrament to her every week. She was super
nice and grateful. I think Bro. Crane was our home teacher just before I left.
I'm glad you are doing well. This week has flown by like all the others.
Especially with Conference. That was awesome. This week was not very eventful but it was still cool. A lot of little miracles like being in the right place at the right time. I am still in the same area and I love it!
It's a great place. Reminds me all the time how much I like smaller towns more than bigger towns. Which do you like more? You have lived in some pretty big towns if I remember right. At least Phoenix area is pretty big.
My companion is hard working and is really awesome. Missionary life is different but the best!
Well, tell Corey hi since he didn't write haha.
Well bonne semaine! A la prochaine!

I'm mostly craving warm weather

Sister Mom!
I'm doing great how are you? haha he got mono? What did he do the day he got released? haha Ya, I can see why he is so tired. You do a lot on your mission with not a lot of sleep. Well, it's a good amount hours wise, but you're always doing something. That's so crazy fast 4:12! What was their name? I'm glad carli ran well in the 800m. I was never good at that. Byron and Abel got there calls sweet! Tell them congrats for me and that they'll love uruguay and cali!
Oh man ok I will keep going strong here so that you all don't fall apart over there! questions/answers:
 1. what is different about victoriaville? Well, there are a lot more families in Victoriaville. It's also not next to a giant river and it's less windy. There isn't really a main employment here so that's why there is becoming less and less young families here. Missionary work wise, it's a lot more knocking and I have taught a lot more investigators. I have heard a lot of spanish and so I understand it decently well. The apartment is a lot smaller too, but I like it. The Rimouski one was too big for two people I think. The Branch here is a lot bigger and a lot more functional. There are very active and very focused on missionary work. That is fun.
 2. do you mostly teach quebecois or immigrants? We teach a lot of immigrants, but temps en temps(time to time) we teach quebecois people. We mostly teach hispanic people right now because almost all of our quebecois investigators stopped investigating.
3. is there something you are craving from america? No, I'm mostly craving warm weather. So, will you send some of it my way? haha If only that worked. But I like snow now a lot. Just makes missionary work a lot harder.
 4. do you speak french all the time? sometimes? is it harder to learn the language or easier when it is a dual language country? I need to speak French more. I speak it some. With other people yes but we are working on speaking more with eachother. Well, I'm mostly working on that because Elder Hurtado PVL's a lot (that just means speak your language). I think it's easier in some ways but harder in others. You can say any word in english and they will probably know it. They appreciate that you are trying to speak their language but most of them know english decently well. It's harder because there are a lot of words they use that the french-ize. Like toast or toaster. They say that. And sometimes it's the literal translation of american english to french.
 5. what is a great spiritual experience this week? Well, one day we had already knocked a road but Elder Hurtado had a feeling to go to the apartments that didn't answer on that road to contact as many as possible, so we did and we found this really solid investigator! It was pretty cool. It shows that God puts ideas and inspires us in the work.
Well, have a great week! Love you tons!

3/24

Dear Mom,
I'm doing great! Oh, I didn't know he had a daughter in Ottawa. That's super cool! Ya, it's in our mission. But I don't really want to go there because it's english speaking haha. Who are her missionaries there? What ward/area? Ya, they don't sell anything really spicy here, like mexican food. I have seen some stuff but not a lot. I'm doing great with food! I have a lot of money left over every month so I'm doing fine. Ya hunter!! Best legs! Only cool people win that award haha.
I'm so glad Carli ran well! She'll be way faster than me before we know it! State champ senior or even junior year? I think so. I haven't seen that mormon messages.
Sounds great though! Time is flying like CRAZY! You have no idea. I feel like I just got in Victoriaville and it's coming on six weeks.
Hopefully Elder Hurtado stays with me another transfer. People make a big deal about 'giving up' two years for a mission, but really it flys by like 1/2 of a year. So, really it's not bad! Plus you know you are in the right place. Well, nothing much is happening here. I'm doing great and my companion is awesome! Have a great week!

3/17

Sister Kimzey,
I love Spring Breaks when we don't go anywhere. They are a lot more relaxing! Did you take out all the other trees in the backyard?
haha That's super funny. I imagine he ate the weirdest things. Mine will be, 'you can put maple syrup on that?' haha.
Wow, that's super ironic that she would get mad in the Chapel. Nah, people aren't grumpy because of the winter. There are a lot of grumpy old people but I don't think the winter is the kicker. People like the winter but not like a ton. I would say it's more of a tolerance of winter haha. It depends though. If you just spend winter inside it's not that fun, but if you do things outside it's super fun!
Has Corey been eating enough iron? Remember when I got super tired because of iron difficiency? My week was good. Not much to say either. Lots of work and lots of work! We try to teach people in the afternoon then find at night. That's pretty much my days in a nutshell. I am working on being more grateful and it's really eye-opening! There are so many thing to be grateful for that God's given us!!! Well, hope you have great week. Love ya!
